14th Asian Junior Athletics Championship 2010

Hanoi welcome athletes from Asia to 14th Asian Junior Athletics Championship which will be held in the city from 1-4 July 2010. Championship will be held at My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi. Athletes born in the year 1991 and 1992 will only be allowed to compete.

HANOI, June 29 — Vietnam for the first time will host the Asian Junior Athletics Championships from July 1-4 at Ha Noi's My Dinh Stadium.
More than 650 officials and competitors from 37 countries and territories will take part in the tournament, marking a record number of participants. Powerhouses such as Japan, China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Thailand have registered to send their strongest juniors who will fight to secure titles in 44 events.
Uzbekistan athletes have been training hard in preparation for 3 months before the opening championship. Kurbanov Ruslan is our medal hope in the men's long jump events. Svechnikova Anastasiya and Mukhtarova Nozima in the women's javelin throwing and Kozlova Lyudmila in the women's 400m are also possible medal winners. Also Saidaliev Dostonjon in the men’s 100m is possible medal winner. According to organizers at Sunday's briefing, preparations for the tournament are complete. 120 referees are ready to adjudicate the events which will also be under the supervision of world and continental athletic federations.
The tournament will start at 8am on Thursday with the walking and combined events. Vietnam Television's VTV3, will offer live broadcasts and show the opening and closing ceremonies. — VNS
